In
1994 Apex was named the state's #1 Small Town in economic
vitality by Business
North Carolina magazine. Its revitalized
downtown is on the National Register of Historic Places
as one of the best examples of an intact turn-of-the-century
railroad town.
Apex, so named because it was believed to be the highest
point on the Chatham Rail Line between Richmond, VA, and
Jacksonville, FL, showcases its railroad history.
Located in southwestern Wake County, Apex combines a relaxing
small-town atmosphere with easy access to big-city amenities.
Major shopping, business, entertainment, and recreation
centers are a short drive away.
Apex is positioned for future growth, with a population
just under 30,000. This community’s quaint small-town
atmosphere attracts many people moving to the bustling Triangle
Region.
Apex’s informal town motto is “Peak of good
living.”
