Fuquay-Varina is a town of less
than 10,000 residents located
in the southern tip of the Triangle Region, about 18 miles
south of state capital Raleigh. Known as a family-friendly
community, Fuquay-Varina is perfect for those who prefer
a slower pace, yet want to be within an easy commute of
a major airport hub and a slew of large high-tech employers.
The town’s tax base is built on a 50/50 mix of residential
and business, a rare achievement for a community its size.
Fuquay-Varina
is home to a number of parks and recreational resources.
Parks offer facilities for tennis, baseball, soccer and
volleyball, along with playground equipment. There are many
opportunities for seasonal and year-round programs for fitness,
recreation and adult athletics. There is also an outdoor
track for runners and walkers and several miles of beautiful,
wooded foot paths.
Fuquay-Varina boasts several National Register Historic
Districts, including the Fuquay Springs National Register
Residential Historic District. This five-block area around
South Main and Spring Streets showcases homes that reflect
architecture and development from the 1890s to the 1940s.
If it’s small town tradition that you’re looking
for, there are two annual not-to-miss events in Fuquay-Varina.
One is the Historic Home Tour and Dinner that combines tours
of local historic home and the annual Historic Society meeting
with a dinner and auction the second weekend in October.
Second is the Spring Garden Tour where several area gardeners
open their yards to visitors the third weekend in April.
All this and moderate housing prices make historic Fuquay-Varina
an ideal choice for many home-seekers.
