When you enter Holly Springs,
you are greeted by a sign welcoming you to “the fastest
growing town in North Carolina.” That designation
was coined by Mayor Dick Sears to capture the community’s
dramatic population increase. Holly Springs grew tenfold
from a population of fewer than 1,000 in 1990 to10,000
in the year 2000. Today Holly Springs’ population
is about 14,000 and is projected to grow to about 25,000
before 2015.
Holly
Springs is located in southwestern Wake County, 15 miles
from Raleigh, the state capital, and 23 miles from Raleigh-Durham
International Airport. Urban centers are in close proximity,
yet land prices are still very reasonable.
Planned downtown growth adds to the charm of Holly springs.
A new town hall on Main Street is a centerpiece of the community.
Opened in 2003, the 35,000 square-foot, two-story brick
building was designed in an architectural style reminiscent
of the 19th century when Holly Springs was founded. A cupola
with a large clock that faces Main Street and an outdoor
plaza with a fountain behind the building are just two of
the building’s features.
Town leaders say they want Holly Springs to be “a
big, small town instead of a small, big town.” That’s
just how it feels and just how residents want it!

Parrish Womble
Park
The 46-acre Parrish Womble Park was
once a tobacco farm, but you’d never
know it today! The park hosts a paved walking
trail, baseball and soccer fields, playground
equipment, a small fishing pond, a picnic
shelter, an amphitheater, and areas for horseshoes
and volleyball.
